Welcome to Liwonde National Park

Liwonde National Park: Liwonde National Park is located on the Upper Shire River Plain, east of the river, 140 km north of Limbe. The Park is home to several species of antelope, elephants, buffalo, crocodiles and hippopotamus. There are more than 400 species of bird found in this Park. It is a very beautiful place with a mix of riverine, mopane and grassland habitats, with good populations of elephant, hippo and crocodile in particular, as well as really superb bird life. Increasing antelope numbers are leading to higher densities of lion and leopard .The lack of "big five" safari here is in some ways a blessing as it has helped to keep the crowds at bay. Liwonde is a wonderful, peaceful place to visit, a real favourite amongst more experienced Africa travellers.

Mvuu Camp has a spectacular vantage point along the Shire River that draws all manner of fauna to its banks. The camp, comprising 12 units as well as a nearby campsite, is a clever mix of spacious stone and canvas chalets and specially designed family..
Mvuu Lodge overlooks a tranquil lagoon just off the Shire River with the main lounge area set high above the water in an area of captivating variety and beauty. It has an extensive wildlife library and telescope to make the most of the exceptional bird..
